If you often format your hard drive, it will interest you to learn about Xpress Recovery2, an excellent program which you can download here, and which lets you make both backups and restore the data from previously installed hard drives.

Xpress Recovery2 is compatible with SATA and PATA hard drives with specific baseplates. Before using it for the first time, it is recommended that you take a look at the recommendations described on the author's website. There you can also consult a complete list of the admitted baseplates.

The first time you use Xpress Recovery2 you have to establish, in the BIOS, the "run from CD-ROM" option, after having created and inserted a CD with the drivers. From this moment on you can start the program using F9. Despite the complexity of the program, the interface to make backups and to restore data is quite intuitive.
